Chau Dominates in true Style for Title Honours

Touring Car veteran Danny Stacy Chau of Hong Kong took the overall Division 2 Title in the Asian Touring Car Series despite not racing in the final round at Macau. All of his experience was to count in a season which saw him only off of the podium on one occasion. A defensive style, which sees him always protecting his car at the start of the race and in so doing sometimes losing positions, belies a very impressive turn of speed and a phenomenal knack of overtaking which consistently sees him come back through the field to take the win. “I am pleased to take this Title against such fast drivers as Sawa and my good challenger Koizumi who has fought me hard throughout the season”. He commented.

In second place in the overall standings was Japanese driver Junichi Koizumi of Ao’s Racing who finished just 20 points behind Chau. “It has been a great season and I have enjoyed my fight with Danny very much, we have been close all year but he just managed to beat me. I am determined to come back and try to beat him next year.

Third was fellow Japanese driver Seijiro Sawa who was extremely quick and looks like he will be a strong challenger in next year’s championship, where he plans to step up to Division 1. He said “I have enjoyed myself a lot this year and I have learnt many lessons which I will be able to take into next year, hopefully I can try to win the Division 1 title”.

Team IMSP secured the Division 2 Team Title and enhanced their reputation as one of the most successful teams in Touring Car racing in Asia.
