Being only 3.575 metres short and about 1000kg light, the Mercedes A-class with appealing, youthful appearance, offers all the typical qualities people have to come to expect of a Mercedes, in particular exemplary safety, high reliability and quality, comfort and perfect driving pleasure.
Through more than one hundred crash tests since development work began on the compact model back in 1994, the A-class has passed with flying colours. During recent crash tests in accordance with NCAP (New Car Assessment Program), the car was awarded a four stars rating, which is the highest for automotive safety in Europe, by the jury composed of European consumer organisations.
Despite its ultra-compact exterior dimensions, the A-class combines the agility of a city run-about, the spaciousness of a family car, the comfort of a medium saloon and the practicality of and MPV.
The four-door A-class comes with a choice of two petrol engines, of 1.4 and 1.6 litre capacity, and two 1.7 litre turbodiesels in the range. Standard equipment includes airbags for the driver and the front passenger, side airbags in the front doors, seat belt tensioners and belt force limiters.
