Make: Volvo    Model: [XC90] Friday, 29 March 2024

Volvo XC90 – the next generation SUV. This leader of the new Volvo XC range is due to be revealed to the public at the North American Auto Show in Detroit on 7 January 2002.

The Volvo XC90 features all the trademark Volvo design elements: the V-shaped bonnet, pronounced shoulder lines and powerful stance all wrapped up in gently rounded, elegant lines.

Inside you will find that the refined, ergonomic design combined with efficient packaging means the Volvo XC90 has a highly flexible and versatile passenger compartment.

It's also incredibly comfortable and safe too, - up to seven people can be accommodated in carefully supportive forward-facing seats, thanks to the ingenious flat-stored 3rd row system.

Showcasing new safety solutions

As you might expect from a new Volvo, the XC90 also reinforces the company's position at the forefront of active and passive vehicle safety by introducing a range of technologically advanced safety solutions.

Performance, Power and Economy

Engine choice will be between the T6 turbocharged six-cylinder petrol engine and Volvo's new D5 all-aluminium five-cylinder diesel unit. Both are tuned for maximum performance and minimum emissions.

Production of the new car will start in 2002 at the Torslanda factory in Goteborg on Sweden's west coast, where Volvo Cars is concentrating the production of all its larger models. The North American market is expected to account for about 65 percent of total Volvo XC90 sales.
