Toyota Yaris, the best little car so far from a Japanese manufacturer, has been given a big job by Toyota - it is the first to bear the T Sport designation.
This is a classic piece of model grooming, with the 106bhp, 1.5-litre engine doing far more than increase the maximum speed.
It was clear from the start that the chassis design of Yaris gave Toyota the scope to put extra power under the bonnet.
Acceleration from 0-62mph takes nine seconds, according to Toyota, with variable valve timing getting the most out of the 1.5-litre engine. VVT is designed to make an engine as peppy or economical as possible, depending on the driver's aims.
Now the T (for Toyota) Sport brand is to be extended across the range. It comes with driver & passenger lateral airbags, rear disc brakes, manual tilt/slide glass sunroof, carbon fibre door inserts and body coloured door mirrors.
